Here are 7 smashing reasons why you should come to Ethiopia:

1.  Ethiopia boasts no less than 860 species of birds and is recognized as a center of endemism in the region. Eighteen birds are totally endemic to its geographic limits. It shares another 14 with Eritrea. On the continent, it is only second to South Africa in its number of endemic birds. Besides the endemic component, you will also find that the country holds  a number of north-eastern African near-endemic species on your trip that are restricted to the North-eastern region of Africa.

2. Other wildlife is as interesting and equally stunning. As an example, from a total of 279 species of mammals, 35 are endemic. The spectacle of wildlife is not the same as in other Eastern African countries, but the species you will encounter are largely endemic and rare.

3. The landscape is worth noting as well because it ties very well with how the people make a livelihood and determines traditions. Ethiopia has also been recognised as the “cradle of the human species”. This is based on archaeological finds that support the earliest hominid existence in the world to have been in Ethiopia. In a way, Ethiopia is the original home of our species and you are really touching base with your primeval abode when you come for your visit.

4. As one of the oldest civilisations in the world, Ethiopia is a repository for facinating historical artifacts and is dubbed the "the cradle of the human species".

5. Geomorphology and landscapes are exceptionally diverse and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Ethiopia is a “living museum of land forms” in the region. From the tops of Siemen Mountains that loom more than 4600 meters above sea level to the Dalol Depression that sinks more than 100 meters below sea level (and everything in between), visitors will not bored of monotony of landscape in their travels. This provides an excellent opportunity for geography and geology students to make a one stop visit to see all of Africa in a sojourn!

6. An ancient nation, Ethiopia also abounds with exotic cultures and vivid history. Wherever you travel in the country you are bound to come across some kind of interesting facet of the tradition of a people.

7. Ethiopians have tilled the land for more than 2000 years. It is one of few nations where land is tilled using ox and plow. This and other mystic traditions still thrive for the visitor to learn and enjoy.
